Quantification of uremic toxins and bile acids

Uremic toxins (UTs), or gut microbial-derived toxins, are waste products that accumulate in the blood due to impaired kidney function and contribute to inflammation, oxidative stress, and cardiovascular complications. Bile acids (BAs) are liver-derived molecules essential for fat digestion and act as signaling molecules that influence metabolism and gut microbiota. Studying both is important for understanding disease mechanisms and identifying potential biomarkers or therapeutic targets in conditions like chronic kidney disease, liver disease, and metabolic disorders. Our LC-MS based analysis enables the quantification of 17 UTs and 15 BAs in both plasma and fecal samples.
